Empowering Youth to Build Stronger Communities Across York County and Central Pennsylvania.
Make a Lasting Impact. Join a Movement of Young Voices for Change.
At Going the Extra Miles, we see a world where helping neighbors and improving our communities isn’t a chore, but an adventure for the younger generation. We provide a platform for youth to lead the charge in:
Helping Neighbors: Teaching compassion and empathy through service.
Improving Communities: Promoting stewardship of local spaces.
Animal Advocacy: Protecting the lives of furry friends who bring us joy.
Make Improvements: Leaving a green footprint for generations to follow.
Being Innovative: Challenging youth to create and build meaningful engagement.
Youth Leadership Through Service
Going the Extra Miles empowers students across York County and Central Pennsylvania through youth volunteer programs, leadership development initiatives, civic engagement opportunities, and community service projects. We believe that when young people are given the opportunity to lead, serve, and create, they develop the confidence and compassion needed to strengthen their communities and shape a better future.

ENGAGEMENT
We’re always creating innovative community service and leadership opportunities that connect with kids and teens through their unique interests, talents, and passions. Our programs combine civic engagement, volunteerism, and hands-on learning to inspire young people to become active participants in their communities. By making service meaningful, educational, and fun, we help students discover the rewards of giving back while developing confidence, leadership skills, and a lifelong commitment to making a difference.
-
VOLUNTEERISM
We believe that service is one of the most powerful ways young people can make a difference. Through environmental initiatives, animal welfare projects, community beautification efforts, sports-related volunteer opportunities, and other hands-on service experiences, students learn the value of teamwork, responsibility, and giving back. By connecting youth with meaningful volunteer opportunities, we inspire compassion, strengthen communities, and empower the next generation to create positive change.
-
LEADERSHIP
We believe every young person has the potential to lead. Through hands-on experiences, mentorship, teamwork, and community service projects, students develop the confidence, communication skills, and sense of responsibility needed to make a meaningful impact. Our leadership programs provide a supportive environment where young people can grow personally and professionally, learn the value of service, and discover how their actions can inspire positive change in their schools, communities, and beyond.
